Arunachal Pradesh Forts and Palaces

Arunachal Pradesh is one of the sparingly populated states in India and is covered with 83743 sq. kms. The state got independent in political status on 20th January, 1972 and was further stated as a “Union Territory” for Arunachal Pradesh. The Bill was passed in 1986 by the Parliament and hence it became the 24th state in India Union Territory. The state is often mentioned in Mahabharata and Purana literature. Even the mountains of Prabhu are supposed to be placed in the Puranas. Here the sage Parashuram rinsed his sin, Bhishmaka King got his Kingdom, Rukmini was married with Lord Krishna and mediation was done by sage Vyasa.

The state is a land of deep river ravines, green lush forests and exquisite beautiful plateaus. The land is shrouded with Himalayan range and the north borders are covered with Softy Mountains on the northern and western part. The climate over here is hot and humid at lower altitudes and hence the ravines are shrouded with swampy thick forests. The state is divided in five valleys: the Subansiri, the Kameng, the Lohit, the Tirao and the Kameng. All valleys are covered with snow that gives amazing picturesque to the land.

Bhismaknagar Fort

The Bhismaknagar Fort is considered as most eminent sacred heritage and Archeological destinations in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The Fort is widely visited by the tourists across the world. The Fort is a holy heritage for Idu Mishims, the inhabitant’s belong to primitive tribal community. It is the symbol for past grandeur which signifies elevated civilized standard.

Ita Fort

Itanagar, the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh has been derived from the Ita Fort and is located in the Papum Pare district. The fort is known for its plentiful History and significant importance. Arunachal Pradesh was ruled by the Ahom Dynasty back in between the 14th – 15th century. The ruin of the excavated fort is the major tourist attraction and is highly imposed for its irregular shape. The entire brickwork is comprised of about 16, 200 cubic length. It has got three gates sides on the Western, Southern and Eastern, which was built by the Ahom rulers.

The stone work done on the Ita Fort have employed more than 80 lacks of bricks to erect the construction during that era. The most interesting fact about the Ita Fort is that nearly 45, 000 workers were employ for building up the fort.

The major attraction of the Ita Fort is the beautiful yellow colored roofed shrine, Buddhist temple. The temple is well maintained around the stupo tress which is planted by Dalai Lama as His Holiness. The overview of the temple allows exquisite view of Itanagar Town from the top of the fort.

For reaching Ita Fort, the visitors have to reach first in Itanagar. The nearest airport is Lilabari situated in the north-east part of the Assam. Besides these there are regular trains from Harmuti to Guwahati, Assam.
