In the center of Hyderabad, there is popular Hussain Sagar Lake, which is among the largest man made lakes in Asia.

The Shamirpet Lake and the Durgam Cheruvu which is also generally called as “the Secret Lake” are the best weekend gateways sited in the fringes of Hyderabad. Across the Manjira River there is a huge reservoir built called as Nizamsagar which is well known for the scenic beauty surrounded all over the place. The other popular small lakes (cheruvus) in Andhra Pradesh are Pakhal Lake in Warangal, Kambham Lake in Rajahmundry and the Pulicat Lake in Nellore. These lakes of Andhra Pradesh make the state mare beautiful and picturesque.

Hussain Sagar is among the biggest man made lakes in Asia situated in the hub of Hyderabad City, contributing to its enormous beauty. It is a rambling non-natural lake that holds water continuously. It was constructed in 1562 during the supremacy of Ibrahim Qutub Shah, on a stream of River Musi. The exclusive quality of this lake it joins the identical cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is usually known as the Tank Bund.

Kambham Lake is situated in Rajahmundry that is to the east of Godavari District. It is also popularly called as Kambham Vari Cheruvu, Kambala Cheruvu. It is said to be constructed by Mr. Kambham Narasingarao Pantulu in 185-1850.

Nizamsagar is a giant reservoir that is built across the River Manjira. It falls between Banjapalle and Achampet villages of Nizamabad district. It is a stream of Godavari River. The scenic and breathtaking beauty of this place attracts number of tourists from near and far places.

Pakhal Lake is a manmade lake constructed by the Kakatiya King, Ganapati Deva in 1213 AD. They constructed it by harnessing a small stream of Krishna River. It is situated at a distance of 50 kms and is widely spread over an area of around 30 sq kms.

Pulicat Lake is known as the Second biggest Brackish water Lagoon in India that is along the coast of Bay of Bengal. The migratory water birds are mostly attracted towards the backwaters of the Sea. It is also a popular breeding and feeding ground for a number of terrestrial and aquatic birds. The lake is spread over widely over an area of around 500 sq kms. The best time one can take a trip to this place and enjoy to its best is from October to March.

Shamirpet Lake is a perfect place for a pleasant outing and also an enchanting picnic spot. This is an artificial lake which was constructed by a Jagirdar of that area almost more than 50 years ago. It is situated at a distance of around 27 kms from Hyderabad. This is one of the famous places where people usually come for the picnic with their family and friends. There are many couples who come here to spend a descent time with their loved ones.
