The major tourist attraction of Egypt are the Pyramids of Giza belonging to the Fourth dynasty of Pharaoh Khufu. These are the oldest and the only intact Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and find a place in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These are man-made marvels which are around three thousand years old and have stood the trials and tribulations of time. Luxor situated on the east bank of the River Nile is a beautiful city and a renowned open-air museum known for its tombs and temples. Cairo is the capital of Egypt and houses the glistening white desert, the largest megacity in the world. Hurghada is located six hundred kilometres from Cairo and is known for its turquoise waters and coral reefs. Pyramids of Giza are the three ancient pyramids that were built to honour the Pharaohs and the Sphinx stands tall as a guardian to the resting place of the Pharaohs. The pyramids of Giza were built by Pharaohs- Khufu ( tallest ), Khafre ( background ) and Menkaure ( front ). Each pyramid comprised an integral component of the majestic burial domain, involving a temple located at the foundation alongside an extensive boulevard paved with stone. To ameliorate the transit of sightseers, there have been installed non-slip timber slabs, railings, and luminous fixtures. Khufu’s Complex consists of a valley temple which is buried underneath the village of Nazlet el Samman which has still retained the limestone casing at its base. Khafre’s Complex also has a valley temple, a causeway, a Sphinx temple and a mortuary temple. The compound of Menkaure encompasses sculptures of Menkaure himself, and at some point during the fifth era, a temple beforehand referred to as “ante” was appended to the valley temple. It also has three subsidiaries or Queen’s Pyramid.

Luxor was earlier known as Thebes which was once the power base of the pharaohs. Valley of the Kings is located in the heart of Theban Necropolis near the west bank of the Nile. It is also known as the Place of Truth and has sixty-three royal tombs belonging to the New Kingdom.
