This Wildlife Sanctuary was recognized in 1975.This wildlife sanctuary sways over an area of 557.51sqkm and is a (hilly forest).The Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary also undertakes the forest of Sal. It is connected by (Kanha Achanakmar Corridor) to Kanha Tiger Reserve. The height of this wildlife sanctuary is from (200 mts-1000mts) over the level of sea.
