Vrindavan Location – How to Reach Vrindavan with Distance

Vrindavan is a holy city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The latitudinal-longitudinal coordinates of Vrindavan are as follows: 27.5650° N, 77.6593° E. The city is situated at an elevation of 174 meters above sea level and comes under Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district. Vrindavan, commonly known as Vrindavan Dham, is a well-known pilgrimage destination, as it is believed to be the place where Lord Krishna grew up as a child. Vrindavan is visited by scores of pilgrims and tourists each year, who come to visit its many temples and soak in the spiritual essence of the city. It is very close to another holy city, Mathura – the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The distance between Vrindavan and Mathura is nearly 15 km, and Vrindavan lies on NH 2, i.e., the Agra-Delhi highway. Another name for Vrindavan is Vraj, as it lies in the Braj Bhoomi region of Uttar Pradesh.

By Air

If you wish to travel to Vrindavan by flight, you need to take a flight to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is approximately 150 km from Vrindavan. This is the nearest airport to Vrindavan. From Delhi airport, you can avail of road transport, such as a cab, which will take you to Vrindavan in about 3.5 hours. Agra airport is another option. You can take a flight to Agra and then complete the rest of the journey by road.

By Train

Vrindavan Railway Station is not well-connected to the rest of the country. However, one can still travel by train by first reaching Mathura Junction and then continuing the journey by road. Mathura Railway Station is the nearest major station to Vrindavan. Numerous express trains run between Mathura and many other important stations across the country. From Mathura station, you can take taxis, auto rickshaws, or buses to reach Vrindavan, which is about 14 km away. There are also suburban local trains connecting Mathura to Vrindavan.

By Road Transport

Private and public buses operate frequently and regularly between Vrindavan and Mathura, as well as other major cities in Uttar Pradesh. The fact that Vrindavan lies on the Delhi-Agra main road improves road transport connectivity between Vrindavan and the rest of the country. Shared tempos, taxis, and buses ply regularly on these roads.

At Vrindavan—Moving Around

Once you have reached Vrindavan, you can use local transport to move around the city. Hired cabs, auto rickshaws, and cycle rickshaws are some of the available in-city travel options. The distances that need to be covered within the city are not huge, but having your own vehicle enhances the flexibility of your journey.
