Vrindavan Location – How to Reach Vrindavan with Distance

Vrindavan is a holy city in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The latitudinal-longitudinal extent of Vrindavan is as follows- 27.5650° N, 77.6593° E. The city rises to an elevation of 174 m above the sea level. The city comes within Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district. Vrindavan commonly known as Vrindavan Dham is a well known pilgrimage destination as it is believed to be the place where Lord Krishna grew up as a child. Vrindavan thus is visited by scores of pilgrims and tourists each year. They come to visit the many temples of Vrindavan and soak in the lofty spiritual essence of the city It is very close to another holy city, Mathura- the city where Lord Krishna had taken birth. The distance between Vrindavan and Mathura is nearly 15kms and the city of Vrindavan lies on the NH 2; i.e. Agra-Delhi highway. The other name for Vrindavan is Vraj as it lies in the Braj Bhoomi region of Uttar Pradesh.

By Air

If you wish to travel to Vrindavan via flight, you need to take a flight to the Delhi airport; i.e. the Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is at a distance of 150kms from the Vrindavan city and is the airport falling nearest to Vrindavan. From Delhi airport you could avail road transport such as a cab to drive you down to Vrindavan. The journey spans across 3 and ½ hours. Agra airport is another option…taking a flight to Agra and then completing the rest of journey by road is also possible.

By Train

Vrindavan railway station is not much connected to the rest of the country. However, one can still avail the rail route to Vrindavan…for that you need to reach Mathura station by train and then complete rest of the journey by means of the road transport. Mathura railway station is the nearest major railway station to Vrindavan. Numerous Express trains run between Mathura and many other important stations of the country From Mathura station you could avail taxis, auto rickshaws or buses to reach Vrindavan and the distance that needs to be covered by road is nearly 14kms. Also, there are suburban local trains connecting Mathura to Vrindavan.

By Road transport

Private and Public buses ply frequently and regularly between Vrindavan and Mathura and also many other major cities of Uttar Pradesh. Also the fact that Vrindavan lies on the Delhi-Agra main road improves the road transport connectivity between Vrindavan and the rest of the country. Shared tempos, taxis and buses ply on these roads regularly.

At Vrindavan—Moving Around

Once you have reached Vrindavan you could avail the local transport to move around in the city. Hired cabs, auto rickshaws, cycle rickshaws could be the various in-city traveling options for you. The distances that need to be covered are not huge distances at all but if you have your vehicle at hand that enhances the flexibility of your journey.
